This month we catch up with Helen King, our experienced Bookkeeper. Helen has been with Zaui for more than ten years, helping us make sense of our numbers. One of the first things you notice about Helen is her smile that never leaves her face.
Outside of Zaui, her favourite pastime is spending time with animals, especially dogs. No wonder volunteering with SPCA is one of her passion projects.
Tell us a bit about yourself. How did you get started with Zaui?
I’ve been working with Zaui for more than ten years. I started as a part-time bookkeeper and switched to full-time as the company grew.
What does your typical workday look like?
I usually start my workday by checking messages from Slack and emails. Making payments on time is the priority of my routine. Then I work on the daily bookkeeping to prepare data for all the financial statements.
What’s your one favourite thing about working at Zaui?
I enjoy working as a team in Zaui. We are spread across various departments; everyone is doing their best to get the work done as a team.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Spending time with animals, especially dogs. Helping less fortunate animals makes me feel alive and excited.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about your job position?
Accounting people are good at Math!
If you could pick anybody to be your mentor, who would it be?
My mom.
What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?
Go for a walk with my dog.
Do you use any specific tools or have a routine that helps you stay productive?
I always set a checking point for my work.
