This month, we catch up with Anu Choudhary, Zaui’s Quality Assurance Engineer.
Anu plays a vital role in ensuring consistent quality for our growing suite of products. As part of the QA team, she makes sure that Zaui features and tools are as perfect as possible before reaching our community of tour and activity operators. Being with Zaui for more than a year, Anu is excited about her growth from a manual tester to an automation engineer.
What gets you most excited about coming to work at Zaui?
People at Zaui are fun to work with, and I really like the work culture where everyone is given an opportunity to bring the best of themselves.
What’s your process while working on a new project?
I like to ask questions and dive deeper by asking the whys of the project and then going from there.
What are you most excited about as you grow in your role at Zaui?
Oh yes! I have grown from a Manual tester to an Automation Engineer, and I really like how we are focusing on the quality of products that our customers—tour, activity, and transport operators—are using.
What have you found most challenging in your role?
Our backend system is huge; not many people get to see behind the scenes of a simple user interface, it is challenging as well as rewarding.
How would you describe your job to someone who doesn’t work in tech?
This may sound gross; like you check for mold while shopping for groceries, I check for similar things (bugs) before we publish our app!
What does a typical work day look like for you at Zaui?
Writing test conditions and test cases, executing test cases (manual, automated), discovering bugs and reports, and coordinating with the devs team.
Your happiest moment at Zaui?
The happiest moment for me is when I set up an automation project from scratch and automated multiple test flows for Zaui online booking engine.
What helps you feel connected to your coworkers while working remotely?
We all keep our cameras on while having everyday meetings. We work remotely, but never feels like it because everyone is prompt to reply on Slack.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I like cooking and trying different cuisines, listening to music, and Karaoke!
If you could pick anybody to be your mentor, who would it be?
My husband is my mentor, he helped me grow professionally and keeps motivating me to learn new technologies.
What do you do to turn things around when you’re having a bad day?
Listening to music. It helps me clear out my thoughts, and it charges me back.
What advice would you give new Zauians in their first month?
Take it easy, ask as many questions as you like and don’t stress, it’s a fun environment to work in, and we have a great team.
What is currently at the top of your bucket list?
Looking forward to learning Cypress for automation!
